Cinderella

Cinderella is a painting that I created using water colours and acrylic paint. I used acrylic paint to help make the colours pop brighter. The tonal value in her dress is a mixture of blues, purples and whites. I used large long brush strokes to create her dress and short brush strokes to paint her hair. The background is a light gold water colour wash that sets the mood for the picture.

Society has shown Cinderella as the rebellious girl who has gone against the rules and needs to get home in time before she gets caught because she snuck out to a party or in Cinderella's case, a ball.  Her blonde hair flows as though Cinderella was in the Disney movie when the clock strikes twelve and she has to get home.

I created this painting for our school's In The Spotlight Fashion Show. I was a volunteer and helped all semester in helping this happen. I helped in creating many artworks and by making flowers out of tissue paper for our flower wall and assisted in creating butterflies. The night of the Fashion Show, we had a silent auction and my art was in it! I also helped in painting the model that was sitting in front of the flower wall at the show. In helping to create this successful event, I have learned more about time management and about painting on a human figure.
